+ The Lesson +

Day 24: Write about a lesson you've learned the hard way.

Most of the lessons I've learned the hard way has had to do with breakups with men or the deaths of loved ones.

You can probably say with absolute certainty that I don't pick good men. I will fall for nerdy males every darn time. Which, in theory, sounds like pretty safe bets. However, the confident ones usually grabbed my attention. They tend to be the types that chase women and once they've gotten them they move on to the next one. Those are the men I've been with. They keep me for a few months and then decide a different girl is a better choice. I learned that men will tell you anything. It doesn't matter if it's true or not.

I also learned no matter how sweet a guy seems, you can't trust them on a first date. It's stupid to think otherwise. I accepted a beer from a guy at his place and it was drugged. That's how I became unconscious enough to be raped.

And, lastly I've learned that you never know when someone's time is up, so if you have a chance to see a loved one- take it. It could be the last time you see them. You'll regret not taking the opportunity to see them if you never get another chance. I have that in my heart. I've been denied many closures in my short life.
