+10 Tunes in the Head +

Day 7: List 10 songs you're loving right now.

These songs are in no particular order. This definitely turned into more than ten and really should just encompass all the songs by the bands. Anyway, here's a good sample of what my internal playlist is at any given time. Also, despite my commentary about these being songs I enjoyed as a teenager, I still rock out to them almost daily. I still listen primarily to 90s music.

Good Riddance (Time of your Life)- Green Day. This has been one of my favorite songs for as long as I can remember, probably since before I should have been listening to it. It's just been there for me through every hard time in my life and is definitely a soundtrack in my life's playlist.

The Story So Far - New Found Glory. This can probably be said about all of their songs if I'm being totally honest. They've been one of my favorite bands for forever. This particular song definitely holds a special place in my heart though.

Smells like Teen Spirit - Nirvana. What angsty teen in the 90s didn't listen to this song? I just adore Nirvana. It's hard not to get in a better mood when their songs come on.

Bats in the Belfry- Dispatch. The phrase is just fantastic and makes me happy. Plus, it's Dispatch. Out Loud and The General are also catchy songs by them. Josephine is another song of theirs that I can never skip as my friend with the same name always comes to mind. She died of leukemia when I was 13, so it's a way to remember and honor her.

Strip My Mind - Red Hot Chili Peppers. I grew up with a good mix of their music playing nonstop as a kid. Ajax is big into them. This particular song makes me think of my brothers (bro and his friends that became extra bros) every time.

M+M's - Blink 182. This is possibly my favorite song by them. Its also highly underrated by the masses. It just always makes me happt. I Miss You is another good song that'll always put me in a better mood.

Wrong Way - Sublime. Another song I listened to a ton in my teenaged years. It always elicits belting it out in my car when it comes on. Along with: Santeria, Date Rape, and Garden Grove.

Sunny Hours - Long Beach Dub Allstars. This song forever makes me think of my cousin, Obi-Wan Kenobi, as he was a huge fan of Sublime and introduced Long Beach Allstars to me. So naturally I'd love this song since it's my cousin and the tribute of sublime to their fallen lead singer, Brad Nowell.

Just a Girl - No Doubt. Another of my favorites from my teen years. I still listen almost entirely to 90s music. I don't wanna grow up! Again almost all of their songs are ones I love. No one was more excited about the new album in 2012 than I was. I excitedly chattered away about it to my students, as I was student teaching at the time, and they legitimately had no idea who No Doubt was. It was the first time I felt old in a classroom. Also I always think of Ash when listening to No Doubt.

All in the Family- Korn. It's giggle inducing and even as a teen I had it memorized. Btw, I definitely still have it memorized. Nothing like Korn and Limp Bisket rap battling before it was a thing.

Paul Revere - Beastie Boys. Who doesn't rock out to the Beastie Boys? This song is hilarious and another one I have memorized.

Operation Iraqi Liberation (O.I.L) - Anti-Flag. Another amazing band that has all great songs. For a while I was contemplating getting their star made from broken shotguns as a tattoo since I dig them so much.

Don't Trust Me - 3oh!3. This reminds me of college. Viola and Antigone would blast it on our drives back and forth from college all the time. It's upbeat and funny. So hard to be in a bad mood when it's playing. Good to pump you up at the gym.

The Science of Selling Yourself Short - Less than Jake. Upbeat ska, need I say more? Hard to be mad or upset when it's going. Plus it makes me think of Scott every time! He got me into them.

Falling For You - Colbie Callait. It's been in my head a lot. It's a cheesy, romance song, but sometimes you need one. Plus, it came on the radio a lot while I was dating the guy I was hoping would be my Link.

Live Like You Were Dying - Tim McGraw. I typically hate country, but this song is so dang catchy. It's been terrorizing my mind for months. It's all good though cause at least it's easy to remember so you can sing it when it's stuck in your head without forgetting the words.
