+ Creative Projects +

Sometimes you have do something creative to vent. Art, Artists, and Madness was adamant about that point which is still probably my favorite class from college(all my lit courses were close seconds - but this was fun and such a great stress reliever!). And this was the kind of thing we were encouraged to do- things you normally wouldn't for classes. Play with oil pastels, cut pictures/words/letters out of magazines, collect random forgotten objects off of the ground, talk about art and the process of thought? YES, PLEASE!

As a result today my hands are covered in oil pastels and it looks like I murdered a clown with my bare hands. Most of this stuff was in the bag of found objects from college, too. I think Jamie and Sally would be glad to know some of us may still do things with our sketchbooks and found objects from the class. I just added it in neatly behind the year's work.

I think another thing I loved so much about the class was how entirely approachable the professors were. I think Sally is probably my favorite professor. She was so easy to talk to and she listened so well. Validating everything I said and not making me feel stupid. Plus her comments on all of my work were really helpful and it was obvious she cared. As a result most, if not all, of my work (especially the written stuff) was all very personal and real. I put so much into that class I probably wouldn't have if it had been taught by anyone else. I wrote about more than one super personal stories from both that year and from my past. It was refreshing, invigorating to put it out into the world, and helpful for venting purposes. It's no wonder I keep up with at least Sally. She was amazing and just what I needed in the first year of my college life. She impacted me in a lot of ways I'm not sure I ever conveyed. But there it is.

Anyway, this was just something I'd been thinking of putting together for a while now. The phrase that is kind of ruined by the flash of my cell phone says, "Today's the day to go places". Yes, a lot of the things I added have to do with leaving or going on adventures. The really tiny phrase says, "The Moment of Truth". And there's a little bit of random mixed in (Doctor Who references, anyone?). I just had to do something a little creative and artistic.
