+ Meet the Fishies +

I kind of want to introduce everyone to my kiddos. I haven't let them be officially introduced on my blog and they are a pretty big part of life... well, kind of. Mostly because when you are taking a huge credit load at college and are still working like 30 hours a week it becomes easy to be a hermit. Having my boys made me feel like less of a hermit and yes I did talk to them. I also watched them for minutes of my life because it was soothing. They are adorable and they made me feel less alone - I know that sounds crazy and a little sick, but hear me out.

Mostly I kept myself pretty busy. I got the first one (Sheldon) at a time when I felt kind of alone because there was all kinds of drama in my apartment and mostly I just didn't want to deal. I'd rather hole myself in my room and work on my homework than deal with drama involving other people. It also just so happens that I got Sheldon on what would have been the Birthday of my Nana and so he's always had a special place in my heart. Almost like she sent him to me to feel not so alone. I think of her often when I'm watching him.

I then got a new fish each new year of college.

Sheldon is the first. He's a Fantail Calico Goldfish and I've had him for over two years. He's always had a way of making me feel better when I was upset or just feeling like I was in chaos.

Leonard is the darker orange one. He's a Red Ryukin Fantail Goldfish. He's silly and often has a buoyancy problem, which I hear is common for Red Ryukins.

Howard Aristotle is the lighter orange one, and he's also a Red Ryukin Fantail Goldfish. He's gotten to be so huge. I got him the most recently, it's almost been a year. No, it hasn't. It's been six months since I've had Howard.

Before I got Howard I had a pretty awful scare with Sheldon and Leonard. I went away to Texas for a couple weeks in the Summer. I came back to find no one had cleaned the tank and algae was everywhere. The dad got some algae eaters from Petco. They infiltrated the tank with Ick and almost killed Sheldon and Leonard. I spent about a week straight crying, sick with grief unable to figure out why they weren't getting better while I treated them with anti-fungal medicine. They were definitely on their last breaths of life when I got a hold of my favorite redhead and she informed me what it was they probably had. I was able to nurse them back to health and they've continued to live through several moving trips and are happy and healthy fishies again.

In case you missed it, yes my Fancy Goldfish are named after the cast of The Big Bang Theory. I still need a Raj, Penny, Bernadette, and Amy. Before I do that, though, I really need a bigger tank. And I kind of don't want to deal with lots of babies. So, I've been holding off on purpose.

Now everyone can meet my fancy goldfish that make me feel like less of a hermit. But most importantly, they are friendly and love people. Everyone likes them, so it can't just be me. They are adored by all who meet them, not dissimilar to the characters on Big Bang.
