Day 14: Post about your favorite movies you never get tired of watching.
Boondock Saints
I'm in love with this movie. I quote it regularly and it immediately puts me in a better mood. Who doesn't love movies involving the Mafia? It's funny, silly, and has vigilante justice. I love me some vigilante justice. Irish accents are a giant plus. I love Norman Reedus, Sean Patrick Flannery, and Willem Dafoe. It also always reminds me of Alice which just makes it better. She introduced it to me. We quote it at each other.
Green Street Hooligans
I love brawls. I love British accents. I love Elijah Wood, Charlie Hunnam, and Claire Forlani. It's such a great story. Run away to find yourself and come back as a better, stronger person. Friendship, bravery, stand your ground and fight! It's one of my movies for when I need to cry. It tears at my heart in all the right ways.
Rush Hour 2
I love this movie so dang much! It's funny, has good stunts, fight scenes, great dialogue. I really like the banter between Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker. It's a good quotable movie.
The Mummy and Mummy Returns
I've been obsessed with Egypt basically my entire life. These movies are obviously fictitious being supernatural and all, but they're amusing and cool for entertainment. The idea behind it makes sense and Egypt was superstitious. Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weiss are great in the movies. I've loved these movies since I was a kid.
Super Mario Bros
I grew up watching this movie. It still surprises and saddens me how many people don't know about this one. It stars Bob Hoskins and John Leguizamo as Mario and Luigi. They have to save Daisy, the archeologist, after being kidnapped by the Koopas and taken into an alternate dimension where dinosaurs evolved into humans (the goombas and koopas). It's funny and cute!
The Pest
It's a "Most Dangerous Game" type of comedy starring John Leguizamo as Pestario "Pest" Vargas. It's stupid humor. Really stupid, but so damn funny. It's probably not actually as funny as I find it to be, but it was quoted by Ajax so much I thought it was his original phrases. When I was in high school I rediscovered the movie and had my mind blown realizing my brother just stole lines from movies and wasn't original at all. I still quote this all the time.
Dr Horrible's Sing-along Blog
I quote this to students all the time. When in doubt for Halloween, I am always Captain Hammer. Nathan Fillion, Neil Patrick Harris, and Felicia Day are hilarious. It's a cute story of Dr Horrible's journey to join the Evil League of Evil.
The Dead Poet's Society
What can I say? The English teacher in me loves this movie. Growing up, I knew I wanted to be an English teacher and Mr. Keating was just the kind of teacher I wanted to be. It showcases amazing literature, good teaching skills, and a great cast - Robin Williams! This is another movie I watch when I need a good cry.
Star Wars
I don't even know where to start with these. It's an excellent saga. Great cast. Great story. I recently (in the last 10 years) got more into them enough to follow better and understand the world accurately. Padme is probably my favorite with Leia as a close second. Padme will always be my love, though. My favorite jedi is Aayla Secura, which isn't traditional either. I mean I like most of the jedi, but Aayla is unique and amazing.
Harry Potter
You can never go wrong with Harry Potter. It's a great story and offers so many lessons and values. The actors are great. Just yeah.
Marvel Movies
All of them. I don't even know what to say. I grew up on marvel cartoons, comics, action figures, video games, etc. It's like my childhood growing up with me. So I never turn down any of them. They're doing great things with marvel.
There's probably a lot more that I can watch over and over, but these are the top ones coming to mind.
