+ 30 Facts about Me +

Day 18: Post 30 Facts about yourself.

1. I love fly fishing and have been doing it for the majority of my life. So much so I'm active in NIFC, International Federation of Fly Fishers - Western Rocky Mountain Council, and Casting for Recovery.

2. I could swim before I could walk and if I could breath underwater it's likely the land would never see me again.

3. I could read and write before I entered kindergarten, and I hit college level reading before entering highschool. Yet I always failed accelerated reading because my level was too high to read the things that interested me or what my friends were reading- so I got bored of reading during middle school.

4. I have an affinity for vigilante justice and hero stories. The archetypal quest of the hero is my all time favorite story archetype. It fits everything from Marvel, DC, Disney, Lord of the rings, Harry Potter, and The Odyssey. It encompasses stories across time and pulls me in every time.

5. I take the label nerd-girl with pride. I can be intelligent and dumb at any given time. You never know which version you'll get with me.

6. I am a proud Slytherin and Horned Serpent. #SlytherinPride

7. I read literature for funsies. The written word has always seemed magical and great to me. It can transport you to worlds that don't exist or to different times and places long passed.

8. I am all about Nintendo. I stick to this system for nostalgia purposes and also because those are the games that claimed my heart and childhood. I'm all about legend of Zelda, mario, Starfox, duke nukem, donkey kong, pokemon, etc.

9. I never graduated to game systems outside of Nintendo and Sega. I think mostly because I grew up and would need to pay for the game systems myself and I never had that kind of expendable money.

10. I have been writing since I was a young kid. I created a world of my own when I was about 8. I've been working on turning it into a novel for a while but have yet to find time to complete it.

11. I sing in my car. A lot. Almost every genre possible. I belt it out, I harmonize, and I live for road trips because I love car singing.

12. The night sky always has had a grip on me. I see the moon and stars and suddenly the world feels vast and infinite. When I'm crestfallen, happy, amused, lost, hurt, or just nostalgic the sky is there to hold me in place. It gives me a sense of hope and gets my mind to wander.

13. Bodies of water do the same thing to me as the night sky. I've found myself sitting on the edge of water crying a number of times. It feels like a place to start fresh - to empty your problems and let go.

14. Sometimes when things feel overwhelming I have to go for a drive. I end up in weird places. Old churches. Forests. Lakes. Rivers. I feel stuck in my skin and need to flee.

15. I collect TV shows and movies on dvd. I have a fairly decent collection. I don't know when or why it started. But I like background noise and movies and shows are really good for that.

16. I enjoy sketching. I just draw, color, and such for fun. It's a type of therapy I suppose. I never have any intention of doing anything with it other than enjoy myself.

17. I like to do creative projects- draw on mugs, play with pastels, origami, turn coffee cups into chalk boards.

18. I write poetry for fun. Typically no one ever reads them. They're for myself.

19. I love working with my teenagers. I enjoy watching my students grow and learn. I enjoy getting to know the people they become.

20. I enjoy cooking, especially Italian. I have memorized a fair amount of family Italian recipes that are my paternal great-grandmother's.

21. I am of Irish, Italian, Norwegian, and Romani descent.

22. I am also fairly good at baking. Cookies, fudge, cakes, brownies, etc.

23. I love animals. And they tend to love me back. I have yet to find an animal that doesn't warm up to me almost immediately.

24. I've recently learned how to sew by hand. I'm not great at it, but I can fix rips and sew buttons back on.

25. I can cross-stitch if there's a pattern printed on it. My grandma had a tradition of making cross-stitch bibs and I used to do them with her. I've carried on the tradition.

26. I've recently started going to the gym regularly. I'm now one of those people that love going to the gym. I love watching my muscles grow, my body slimming, and seeing myself getting more fit.

27. I've slowly began learning to love myself again. It is day by day. However, I'm getting there. I am trying to find myself and figure out what I need for myself.

28. I love talking to people that I care about. I could talk to the right people for hours about nothing, anything, and everything.

29. I sometimes need to just sit in silence and drink coffee and just exist.

30. I am an ambivert. I can get my energy to recharge and in groups. The situation I'm in depends on which side is more prevalent.

Bonus Facts:

* I'm an Aries.

* I like to play around with tarot cards sometimes a part of my teenage dabbling with Wicca and Paganism that stuck.
