+ 30 Day Book Challenge: Day 25 +

A Character You Can Relate to the Most

Septimus Hodge. How could I not relate most to the hermit of Sidley Park? Seriously I want to be him so badly. Plus there's the whole tragedy of his character - forever chasing after all the women in the play and sleeping with them only to eventually fall for Thomasina. Except, of course, she ends up dying in a fire and he's left sad and driven half mad. He turns into the hermit of sidley park and works on all of her theories until his own death much later.

How can I not relate to somehow who finally falls for the right person only to lose that person as soon as he realizes his feelings? That's not the story of my life at all... And it's certainly not like I want to be a hermit and live in that beautiful park. Oh... wait. Yeah, I totally do.

Then there's the fact that Septimus is crazy brilliant and is also a teacher, not that I'm saying I'm crazy brilliant. I mean I'm reasonably intelligent when I am encouraged to be so, mostly I'm just quiet and keep thoughts to myself, unlike Septimus. I can, however, woo a man or two like Septimus can woo the ladies. ;)
